ZTE throws weight behind Firefox OS

Rating: Bringing smartphones to the masses

ZTE used its Press conference at MWC 2013 to throw its weight fully behind the Firefox OS from Mozilla. The clear intention is to flog [sell] smartphones to those who currently can’t afford them – especially in developing countries. The move was introduced by He Shiyou, head of the mobile devices division with Chinese telecoms manufacturer. The first example will be the ZTE Open which will also be the first handset to support the Mozilla Firefox mobile OS and is backed by Tier One MNO, Telefonica. Continue reading

Nokia E7 smartphone will miss Xmas, eXpansys says

Rating: Intriguing remarks about Symbian^4 in E7 report

What a shame! The smartphone which many regard as the obvious hit of Nokia World held in London back in September 2010, the E7, won’t go on sale officially in the UK until January 10th 2011 it seems. That’s what it says on the leading online direct handset sales site – eXpansys. The handset will set you back £584.99 inc taxes. The E7 will run the latest version of the Symbian OS – Symbian ^3 but GoMo News was most intrigued by remarks made by What Mobile magazine about the next version of the Symbian OS – Symbian^4. Vodafone Spain launches Find & Go GPS mobile service on 25 devices

Vodafone Spain has launched a new Find & Go GPS service. The mobile content service from Telmap is already available on 25 mobile devices in Spain. These terminal are all GPS enabled and enable new warning fixed radar services so are optimised for both on foot or car directions.
