Tjoos tackles on-line couponing – mobile barcodes should take heed

Ok, so this isn’t a mobile service but it’s very cool and it could easily move into the mobile space. Lots of online merchants issue coupon codes, which you can enter on their sites to get discounts. Coupon sites aggregate these codes for users to browse. Tjoos claims it has the most comprehensive collection of tried-and-tested coupons available.

Tjoos looks at two areas for coupons: quantity and quality. It sources coupons directly from merchants, scans forums for additional coupons and lets Tjoos users add others. Tjoos users bring up the “quality” side of things. Each entry on the website has a quality rating, where users can say whether the coupon worked or not:

From the release:

Bart Jellema, co-founder of Tjoos, says coupon site users have identified sorting through non-working codes as their top annoyance. “This makes it our top priority to ensure our coupons work. We are proud to be the first coupon site to deliver both quality and quantity to our users, with more than 11.000 coupons verified to work.”

What we think?

I do quite a lot of on-line shopping, so I think this is a great service. When I first saw it, I thought “shame it’s not a mobile web service, I’d put it on the site.” But this could easily be applied to mobile services. Is there a decent, user-rated aggregator of mobile barcodes out there? I’m sure there are a LOT of great deals that we never hear about because the reach of an individual barcode isn’t far enough. If anyone knows of any service like this on mobile, please drop me a mail about it cian@gomonews.net
