Tweakker helps Doro’s old foggies get their SMS settings OTA

Rating: Cloud-based mobile configuration service replaces call centres

Globally, mobile network operators probably spend unknown millions of dollars on marketing campaigns to attract new subscribers but then turn to the age-old mechanism of call-centres to provide tech support. What they need is a fast track mechanism to get consumers swiftly up and running with ARPU-enhancing services like Internet, MMS and SMS. Thats where Tweakker fits in with its cloud-based mobile configuration service. The technology enables new handset owners to connect to the mobile net in near real-time in order to get the requested parameters for SMS and MMS, etc. Now Doro has become the first device manufacturer to licence Tweakker’s Over-the-Air (OTA) mobile phone connectivity service. Doro’s handsets are targeted at seniors (old foggies) – who most aren’t tech-savvy. Whilst Doro’s products are already sold in over 30 countries, this deal will enable it to support more operators in more markets.

Doro products are specifically adapted for seniors which is the fastest growing group of people worldwide. It is also sells into the TeleCare and mHealth sectors.

Doro’s vp, Thomas Bergdahl said, “The knowledge and settings of the parameters requested by the phone to be able to handle SMS, MMS and data connection in each country [has] become complex.” Which is why Doro has chosen to partner with Tweakker.

Tweakker’s connectivity database now supports devices used in more than 1,000 networks in 200 countries and the company has a growing customer base of network operators and MVNO’s in all continents.

As devices proliferate, so does connectivity complexity. That’s why Tweakker’s CEO, Dennis Juul Poulsen believes that mobile service providers need to better address churn issues and offer their mobile users automated on-device, self-care support.

With Tweakker’s service, all network operators, service providers and device manufacturers can become pro-active and reduce customer churn, the company claims.
